Former News Editor Malminderjit Singh joins Hume Brophy as Regional Content Lead and Senior Account Director for Asia

SINGAPORE – 15 September 2021 – International communications consultancy Hume Brophy today announces the appointment of Malminderjit Singh as Regional Content Lead and Senior Account Director for its Southeast Asia operations.

As an integral part of the firm’s continuously evolving expertise in digitally driven, integrated communications combined with its strengths in crisis management, government relations and public affairs, Malminderjit brings more than 15 years of experience in media, communications and public policy to the table.

In his new role, Malminderjit will support the firm’s Asian offices and global leadership by spearheading and implementing new content strategies and products for Hume Brophy’s clients and its internal branding. He will also draw on his vast experience in public policy, academia and strategic communications, including as an opinions editor, to position clients as thought leaders in their respective fields.

Malminderjit joins Hume Brophy after holding key positions in the media scene in Singapore. Immediately prior to this he was Digital News Editor at CNA (Channel News Asia), where he was an Editor of the Commentaries section, and was previously also a Correspondent with The Business Times.

In addition, he has been a trade negotiator with Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, Executive Director of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and held senior editorial and communications roles in Singapore’s leading universities. During his career, he has also been a speechwriter and provided strategic communications counsel to leaders in the private and public sectors.

With an in-depth knowledge of media know-how, public policy and digital media, Malminderjit will enhance Hume Brophy’s offerings to clients across the globe.

Hume Brophy CEO, Conall McDevitt, said:

“We are excited to be able to draw on Malminderjit’s unique blend of experience which has equipped him with a skillset relevant to Hume Brophy’s strengths. On the one hand his expertise in content development will support our ability to service existing clients and develop new ones across the globe. On the other hand, he brings wide ranging expertise and experience to our growing team in Asia and will play a key role as we look to expand in the region.”

Malminderjit added:

“In recent years, the corporate world has faced increasing pressures from a more sophisticated, informed and socially-conscious audience while also navigating more complex regulatory and policy environments. Against such a backdrop, it is no longer possible for businesses to view communications, public affairs and content management as distinct and peripheral functions but one that is integrated, well-nuanced and impactful.  Hume Brophy remains well-positioned to provide our clients with such a strategic approach and I am looking forward to contribute to this meaningful aim.”
