SINGAPORE – 20 May 2021 – International communications consultancy Hume Brophy today announces the appointment of Shawn Balakrishnan as Director for its Southeast Asia operations.
As an integral part of the firm’s continuously evolving expertise in digitally driven, integrated communications combined with its strengths in crisis management, government relations and public affairs, Balakrishnan brings nearly two decades of experience to the table.
In his new role, Balakrishnan will be working with leadership across the network to develop new products, drive growth opportunities and provide strategic counsel to a host of clients.
He joins Hume Brophy after previously serving as market leader for Singapore and Southeast Asia at Burson Cohn & Wolfe (BCW). Prior to joining BCW in 2018, he was the general manager of The Hoffman Agency’s Singapore office, where he was focused on developing award-winning end-to-end integrated communication strategies in response to market needs and was instrumental in rolling out innovative digital media campaigns across the region on behalf of the agency’s stable of clients.
With an in-depth knowledge of complex global business operations in a highly regulated and commercially fluid environment, he is a proven communications specialist adept at telling a brand story with an integrated outlook.
Hume Brophy CEO, Conall McDevitt, said: “Equipped with integrated communications skillsets and employee-first cultural leadership, Balakrishnan represents the kind of change-maker we embrace at Hume Brophy to help us drive our forward-thinking regional growth strategy. He brings wide ranging expertise and experience to our growing team in Southeast Asia and will also play a critical role as a member of our global leadership team.”
Balakrishnan added: “The world continues to go through unprecedented transformation, and as these changes continue to unfold, organisations in a hybrid world must develop the mental agility, clarity, and dexterity to ride its oncoming waves. In our industry, we understand how organisations communicate can create impact and catalyse positive change, and Hume Brophy remains well-positioned to navigate our clients in and around business continuity, and towards sustainable long-term success.”
Balakrishnan fills the gap left by Asia Pacific Managing Director Carolyn Camoens who departed the firm after managing Hume Brophy’s regional presence out of Singapore since 2018. She left to pursue other interests.
