Hume Brophy Launches Training Graduate Programme

Hume Brophy Launches Training Graduate Programme

Seeing a gap in the market to help young professionals gain experience in international communications and public affairs, Hume Brophy look to bring an early career pathway that will see them grow in the business.

Dublin, 8th June 2022. Hume Brophy is delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new graduate training programme. The programme will provide training in the core areas of the firm – public relations, public affairs and digital strategy. Graduates will be based in one of Hume Brophy’s offices in Dublin, London and Brussel but work virtually across the business and through international practices in Agri-food, Energy, Finance and Transport.

The scheme looks to borrow some of best elements of the structure of graduate schemes from “The Big Four” consultancy firms and provide a similar pathway to those beginning their careers in public relations and public affairs. The programme is aimed at recent graduates of a college or university or school-leavers who have achieved three-years of experience in a relevant environment. It will provide ongoing training related to those speciality areas. Upon completion of the year’s training, trainees will be offered a contract as an Account Executive and map out a root to Account Manager within a further 2 years.

Speaking at the launch of the scheme Conall McDevitt, CEO of Hume Brophy said: “We noticed that there are major challenges for people starting out in their careers to break into the world of international communications and public affairs. With this programme we wanted to create a pathway for professionals early in their career to gain experience in the fundamentals of our business but also, more importantly, have a clear path for them to take from trainee, to Account Executive to Account Manager in a short number of years.”

“The new graduate programme is very much in line with the culture that we want to create and encourage in the organisation. Fostering young talent is always something that we’ve tried to do, and we’re delighted to have Account Directors with us now who started as account executives. We’re hoping that appealing to many different colleges, universities and school-leavers with varying experiences, will be an opportunity to grow diversity in our teams and have a young cohort with a very international mindset having worked across three offices with our global practices.”

The intention is to place a cohort of 10 trainees in the business this September and to grow that number over the coming years.

Applications are now open.
